Collector's Corner: Paya Gallery

Paya Gallery specializes in hand woven fabrics for home décor.  We have been invited to visit Paya by its owners Khun Preeyaporn  and Pramort Wongsirimana.  Khun Preeyaporn started collecting textiles over twenty years ago and now works directly with the weavers. Although not a weaver herself  she  organizes the weaving process ( buying raw materials, dying, technical training ) and designing the end products (hand-woven upholstery fabrics). The textiles at Paya’s are all hand woven pure cotton or silk from weaving villages in   the Lanna region of Nan, Lamphun and Chiang Mai as well as Surin and Khon Kaen in the Northeast.   They are suitable for upholstery, curtains or cushion and bed covers.

Khun Preeyaporn will show us the working of the loom she keeps in her shop and will prepare a special display of textiles illustrating the different techniques of weaving which she will explain. She also has a collection of basketry and some ceramics from the North.

The Thai Textile Society looks forward to your participation in this event.
