Trip & Itinerary to Attapeu, Laos

Attapeu is the southernmost province in Laos and off the tourist track. It is on the Xekong River, and home to several minority groups, such as the Taliang who are weavers and the Lawae tribe. It is green area with many waterfalls and thick forests that cover this mountainous region.
The Thai Textile Society will be hosted by the Lao Women Union of whom many are weavers.
**(Founded in 1955, the Lao Women's Union is a mass organization which seeks to enhance women's capacity for self-development and promote women's role in society. The Union takes a lead in promoting gender equality and protecting the interests of women and children. In the cultural field, the Union runs the Lao Cotton State Enterprise and the Art of Silk project)
We’ll visit weaving villages, and a village that still maintains its music with unusual and old bamboo instruments.
**(No visa is needed for member countries of ASEAN (which includes Thailand). All other participants are advised to apply for their visa)
