7th CYCLE BIRTHDAY ANNIVERSARY

National Theatre – 5-9th December

Within the nationwide celebrations commemorating HM the King’s 84th birthday the Ministry of Culture is staging an International Ramayana Festival in accordance with the ancient Thai belief that the reigning king is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu in the personification of King Rama, as told in the Indian epic Ramayana (The Story of Rama). The Thai version of the epic, Ramakirti (In Honour of Rama), will also be included. The following seven countries - Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines and Singapore - who also maintain a cultural tradition of performing the Ramayana, will also be participating in this grand celebration.

The event is open to the public and is free of charge.
