Thai Textile Society Study Trip-A VISIT TO THE WEAVERS OF UTTARADIT AND SUKHOTHAI REGIONS

Please Note - Due to unforeseen circumstances Thai Textile Society Study Trip scheduled for January 2015
is now  rescheduled to       "Friday 6th February to Sunday 8th February 2015"

This study trip will be  led by Steering Committee Member, Khun Chomporn Dhanesnittaya.

The Thai Textile Society is offering a Special Study trip to Uttaradit, a place that was an ancient trading center from the Dvaravati period to the reign of King Rama V, and to Sukhothai to visit five Tai Yuan villages that excel in the traditional Jok weaving considered the best in Thailand. Visitors will be able to view dyeing and weaving methods that have remained unchanged for years as they withstood outside influences. The skill of these weavers is evident from the prizes they received while participating in country-wide weaving competitions. In Sukhothai there will be the opportunity to see Tai Puan weaving using the special dyeing technique of placing the textile in mud overnight. This promises to be a very special trip.
