With Patricia Pibulsonggram

Saturday, 18 June 2016

Family heirlooms are handed down from one generation to the next, as have been the pure gold and silver brocade textiles that Patricia Pibulsonggram inherited from her mother-in-law, Thanpuying La-iad Pibulsonggram, wife of Thailand's longest serving Prime Minister, and who was a great conserver and promoter of Thai culture. Having married into a distinguished Thai family, Patricia fulfilled the role of Thai diplomatic wife in the most proper way. She followed her husband to the United States to stand by his side as he served as Thai representative to the UN in New York, and later Thai Ambassador to the US in Washington, DC. Patricia used these heirloom pieces to create formal dresses for the numerous occasions that their position required. She has also an impressive collection of Thai pha-sins that she will show along with the formal dresses. Each piece has its own tale, bringing to life these wonderful weaves of the past
