Join The Thai Textile Society & National Museum Volunteers for two guided exhibition tours:

Fit For a Queen:Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s Creations by Pierre Balmain
Dressing Gods & Demons: Costumes for Khon

Wednesday, 19 October 2016

To mark Her Majesty the Queen’s 7th cycle birthday, the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles has unveiled two stunning exhibitions:

Fit for a Queen, features Her Majesty’s wardrobe from her six month state visit across Europe. The legendary Parisian couturier Pierre Balmain was chosen as the Queen’s designer and continued to design her wardrobe until his death in 1982. The second exhibition Dressing Gods and Demons: Costumes for Khon displays the anatomy, culture and history of the Khon costumes, displayed in a dark room in order to preserve the delicate gold fabrics.  Guiding these unique exhibitions will be the curator Melissa Leventon, a specialist in European and American costume and textiles, and a consultant to the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles since 2006.
