Join us at the home of Lady Lea Laarakker Dingjan, a Dutch artist and textile specialist. Lady Lea helped upgrade the quality of silk weaving in the northeastern village of Ban Reng Khai in Surin Province. Her work helped benefit the people through the Ban Reng Khai Foundation, changing many lives for the better.
Lady Lea first visited Ban Reng Khai in 1985. Over the years she has become involved with the village weavers and their families encouraging them to create beautiful silks, which are now marketed worldwide.
Lady Lea will tell us the story, history and the unique production process of the silk. We’ll be able to see her collection of solid colored silks as well as those with Lea’s hand-painted designs.
