The Siam Society is holding a ten-day exhibition (March 8th – 17th) of rare textiles belonging to private owners. These come from the collections of her Royal Highness Princess Bejraratana, daughter of King Rama VI; Khun Bilaiban Sampatsiri, former president of the Siam Society and a current council member, and textile experts Khun Thanong Kuptasthien and Khun Jakrapong Wanchana. On display are woven materials from southern Thailand acquired by King Rama VI during his visits there. These include many silks, brocades and songket, the typical Malay weave. There are also old pieces of block prints, fine examples of woven textiles from all over Thailand and neighboring countries.
