Collectors Corner: A Private Collection of Antique and New Southeast Asian and Indian Textiles

By Khun Wang Duangthong the owner of the collection
With translation by her daughter Khun Piyada Duangthong
At 10:00 a.m.

If you want to see magnificent textiles form our region all under one roof, then this is your chance! Khun Wang Duangthong, whose mother was a weaver, has been collecting textiles as long as she can remember. She had learned to weave at a young age and gained appreciation for beautiful textiles. Eight years ago, she reluctantly opened her shop, Loom and Reed, finding it difficult to part with pieces of her collection. Khun Wang reserves the second floor of her shop for her private collection that is generally off limits to the public, but she is happy to show it and share her knowledge with true textiles lovers. The display includes a wealth of textiles such as ikats from Indonesia, woven pieces from East Timor, cloud and wave patterned textiles from Myanmar, woven cloths from Attapeu in southern Laos, old and new Patola cloths from India, and many more.
